NYC, there's something about you

Oh, NYC... (insert several heart-eyed emojis here.)  I spent three days there over a long weekend last month and despite the coldest winter they've been having it was absolutely perfect.  The thermostat only got down to 35 or 40, even up to 50 the last day I was there... ideal weather for pea coats and boots without scaring this Californian inside.  Since I've visited before, this trip was just to see friends and soak up the city instead of jamming the weekend with sightseeing and tours.  Basically our itinerary revolved around eating and drinking--the best kind of itinerary, I think!

I started off the weekend as all trips to New York should, with a boozy brunch.  After taking a glorious nap to reset from my redeye flight, my friends and I had the best Saturday with brunch, passionfruit mimosas, and a surprisingly rowdy crowd (I love you New York.)  Next up was a subway ride and a stroll through Chelsea Market where eating continued... I stocked up my sugar reserves with a chocolate chip cookie.  My friends' apartment is conveniently located on the Highline, where we made fools of ourselves by taking lots of silly photos.  Saturday night was a reunion of college friends at a ridiculously college-y bar; it was awesome.

The rest of the weekend was a bit more laidback--highlights included another rowdy bar for the Niner's/Seahawks game with my SF friends, drinks at a speakeasy, and cookies from Momofuku Milk Bar (I have a cookie addiction and I don't care.)  For the first time ever in my life, I contemplated missing my flight on purpose, which is saying a lot by someone who meticulously plans everything and never does anything crazy like contemplating skipping work and changing a flight the day of.

I miss you already New York.
